Phnom Penh, March 14, 2024: In a push towards enhancing the welfare of civil servants and their families, the Minister of Information, Neth Pheaktra, has called on employees within the ministry to secure identification cards. This move aims to facilitate access to medical care and a plethora of other benefits under the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), particularly emphasizing the importance for spouses and children.

The minister highlighted this initiative during a ceremony held on March 13, 2024, at the Ministry of Information, which focused on the dissemination of information regarding the voluntary contribution scheme of the Social Security System (NSS) in healthcare. Neth Pheaktra underscored the Royal Government's ongoing commitment to refining and expanding the social security system to safeguard and promote the welfare of its members.

Expressing gratitude, the Minister lauded the Royal Government's efforts to widen the scope of protection for both citizens and civil servants. He also acknowledged the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, along with healthcare professionals, for their dedication to serving the public effectively.

Echoing the minister's sentiments, Mr. Sok Bora, Director of the Department of Social Security at the headquarters of the Cambodian-ASEAN Confederation of Trade Unions in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, emphasized the critical importance of the Social Security card. This card not only ensures coverage for medical expenses in case of illness or accidents for the cardholder and their family but also contributes to the stability of the social security system and the attainment of universal health coverage. This initiative aligns with the Royal Government’s first pentagon strategy.

Mr. Bora further encouraged civil servants to register their families for healthcare services, highlighting the provision of free registration and the comprehensive care guaranteed by the government. This effort marks a significant step towards ensuring that all public servants and their dependents receive the necessary health benefits and support.
